Aleph-Nought collects the following information:
- Email address
- Display name
- Exercise attempts and responses
- Video watch events and progress
- Flashcard review history
- Discussion comments and timestamps
How We Use Your Data
- Deliver platform functionality (course tracking, exercise grading, flashcard scheduling)
- Generate analytics for instructional improvement
- Provide progress reports to your assigned TAs and instructors
Third-Party Services
Aleph-Nought uses the following third-party services:
- Cloudflare R2: Video and asset storage
- Supabase: Database hosting
- Upstash: Caching and session management
- SendGrid: Email verification and notifications
- Groq API: LLM-powered AI feedback on exercises
Free-response exercise answers are sent to the Groq API for AI feedback. By submitting a free-response answer, you consent to this data transfer.
Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Accounts inactive for more than 2 years may be purged after a 30-day notice sent to your registered email address.
FERPA Compliance
Exercise performance data constitutes educational record information protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Access is restricted to:
- You (the student)
- Your assigned course instructors and TAs
- Dartmouth administrators authorized to review academic records
